What is Deliberate Environmentalism?
The APDHA committee and its members are involved in Active Environmentalism every single day. Wild pigs in Australia are an invasive species responsible for multi-layered environmental damage and with a capacity to carry and/or spread a range of diseases that are significant to other animals and people. Pig hunters remove more than 5 million pigs from the agricultural and natural environment every year. But our interest in environmentalism doesn't end there. We have the capability to lead on other environmental matters, and we choose to do just that.
This page seeks to document the decisions we make to deliberately support people and products taking an environmental path that aligns with our core values.
This is Deliberate Environmentalism. We hope the highlighting of positive environmental activity will encourage others to look for similar opportunities. Our decisions are targeted and deliberate.
Pets for Planet
European Carp dog treats
We are big fans of the Pets for Planet range of European Carp treats and feed supplements for dogs. At this stage, it is a small start-up run by Bridie and Ben out of South Australia who source the invasive carp from the Murray Darling river system. It's such an obvious triple bottom line winner that we have embraced it and, after testing it, highly recommend it to dog trainers, dog handlers and hunters Australia wide. We say triple bottom line winner because it helps put pressure on probably the worst invasive aquatic pest in the Murray Darling system, it provides a pathway to positive economic outcomes from control operations and it is a great product for our dogs.

Good Earth Cotton
Carbon positive cotton
We have chosen Good Earth Cotton, produced by the Sundown Pastoral Co west of Moree NSW for our dress shirts via Rodd and Gunn. Our dress shirts are from the Rodd and Gunn Oxford range. We wanted Good Earth Cotton and a number of smart brands have opted for the concept of carbon positive cotton and fibre traceability. However, we were won over by the traditional gundog logo of Rodd and Gunn as it symbolised our hunting roots and paid tribute to our hunting dogs in poarticular. The Good Earth Cotton project has turned the cotton narrative on its head and we respect that. It's the sort of environmental approach we can respect.
